Tech Falls to Northern

Tech can't hang on after strong start

Butte – The Lady Diggers had a strong start Saturday afternoon but couldn't hold on as Northern defeated Tech 23-25, 25-16, 25-17, 25-20.

Montana Tech stays winless in the Frontier Conference.

The Lady Diggers started out strong winning the first game on a Shersteen Cline kill. Cline had 20 kills on the day and a hitting efficiency of 0.256. Contributing on defense as well, Cline added seven digs.

MSU-Northern heated up in the second game and didn't look back. Hillary Isleifson led the Northern Lights with fourteen kills and a 0.444 hitting efficiency. In addition to her work at the net, Isleifson contributed fifteen assists and six digs. Kelsey Williams also turned in a solid effort with eleven kills and seventeen digs.

Northern seemed to stop every effort Tech made to score. Holly Cartwright finished the match with 23 digs.

Montana Tech is on the road next week. The Lady Diggers will meet Westminster on Thursday in Salt Lake City and face Lewis-Clark on Saturday in Lewiston, Idaho.
