Box Score BUTTE, Mont. - Volleyball made quick work of University of Monatan Western, 25-21, 25-14, 25-22, Thursday night. The Diggers were led by
Makenzie Bauck who had 26 assists and 10 digs.
Sydney Norris and
Haley Druyvestein each contributed with 10 kills a piece.
Tech (8-10, 3-3 Frontier) hit .227 percent on 46 kills while holding UM-Western (4-11, 0-6 Frontier) to just .059 on the night.
Montana Tech came out firing in the first set hitting .235 percent led by
Sydney Norris' five kills. The competitive set saw 10 ties and 12 lead changes. Both teams went back-and-forth on the scoreboard. With the game tied at 18 all, Tech's
Kimmy Kavran served up a 3-0 run to pull the Diggers ahead. The Bulldogs couldn't battle back and fell 25-21.
The Oredigger defesense played a big role in the second set forcing eight Bulldog errors as UM-Western hit .000 percent for the contest. Western jumped up to an early 7-4 lead, but strong serves by Tech's Bauck brought the Diggers back to take a 12-8 advantage. The Oredigger offense continued to pour it in as their lead increased by 10 at 22-12. The Bulldog rally fell short as Tech took the second set with a score of 25-14.
Tech continued their hard-hitting ways in the third set taking an 12-6 lead. The Bulldogs would then committed several errors allowing the Diggers to go up 20-13. Western would rally back to cut the lead to three at 22-18 but Tech's
Haley Druyvestein's five kills in the set prevent the Bulldog comeback.
The Lady Diggers are back in action on Saturday October 4th as the host the Westminster at 2 p.m.
