Box Score BUTTE, Mont. - The Montana Tech volleyball team dropped a 16-26, 16-25, 14-25 decision against the top-ranked team in the country, Rocky Mountain College Saturday afternoon.
The loss drops Tech to 9-15 overall and 4-8 Frontier. Rocky increases thier match winning streak to 24 and improve to 25-2 overall, 13-0 Frontier.
Leading the way for the Lady Diggers was
Jordan Danz who had a team-high eight kills. Seniors
Korey Krumm and
Annie Smoot chipped in with six kills a piece.
Makenzie Bauck contributed well for Tech with 27 assists while libero
Kimmy Kavran registered a match-high 14 digs.
RMC was led by Yang Yang who had a match-high 11 kills and six blocks.
The Battlin' Bears front row tailled 12 blocks, 11 of which were solo, forcing the a .125 attach percentage for the Diggers.
In the first set, Tech tied up the contest at 6-6 early on thanks to a Danz kill. RMC then used 10-3 run to take the 16-9 advantage. The Lady Diggers' rally fell short as Rocky's front had four straight blocks to put the set away.
In set number two, the Orediggers were up 8-5. The Bears battled back to end the set on a 20-8 run for the win.
In the final set, Tech was able to pull within four at 7-11 but that was as close as they would get as RMC to the set and the match with a score of 25-13.
Tech hits the road next week to take on Montana Western on Thursday Nov. 6 at 7 p.m.
