Box Score BUTTE, Mont. – No. 1 Rocky ended the Orediggers season Saturday afternoon. However, the Orediggers took just the third set of the season from the Conference champ falling 25-10, 25-19, 22-25, 25-21.
Tech finishes the year with a 12-16 overall record, but the team made it to the second day of tournament play for the first time under Coach Solomon.
The team can hold their head high after their strong play against one of the best teams in the nation.
The Bears had 63 kills to Techs 52 in the match. Playing with little error, Rocky had a team .298 hitting percentage.
After falling in the first two sets, Tech confidently won the third set. The Diggers were in contention most of the fourth set going point for point early.
Jordan Danz led the attack with 16 kills and a .324 hitting percentage.
Senior
Annie Smoot had 13 kills and .391 hitting percentage for her final effort.
Setter
Makenzie Bauck pulled her own punches with four kills and a block. She had 42 assists in the match.
Kimmy Kavran notched 33 digs in a solid performance.
Rocky had three hitters in double figures. Mariah Stiffarm had 20, Frontier Player of the Year Yang Yang had 18 and Ahlea Billis tallied 14 kills.
Rocky moves on to the Frontier Tournament Championship at 7 p.m. tonight at the HPER Complex.
