Box Score BILLINGS, Mont. - Volleyball falls in straight sets to No. 1 Rocky Mountain College, 23-25, 25-10, 25-19 Friday night. The Battling Bears limited the Orediggers to just 29 kills on .112 attack percentage.
The Diggers (7-10, 2-3 Frontier) dropped their third straight conference match. Sophomore setter
Makenzie Bauck led the way for Tech with 15 assists and 14 digs. Outside hitter
Jordan Danz added seven kills.
Rocky, who now has won 16 consecutive matches, improves to 17-2 overall and 6-0 in the Frontier. Leading the way for RMC was Yang Yang with 19 kills.
In a battle of a first set, Tech came out hitting jumping to a 10-3 advantage. The Diggers continued to stay hot and upped their lead to eight at 16-8. Rocky made a run of their own and tied up the set at 16 all. The Battling Bears quickly took the lead and control of the set, as they were able to come from behind to win set number one, 25-23.
It was all Rocky in the second set as the Battling Bears hit .500 percent took an early lead and never looked back. Tech pulled within two at 5-7 but that was as close as they would get as RMC never trailed in the set. The number-one ranked team went on to win the set with a score of 25-10.
RMC continued their hot streak in the third set however Tech would not go down without a fight. The Diggers pulled within two at 8-6 but Rocky used a 6-0 run gaining breathing room. With RMC leading 20-15, Tech tried to rally back but it was too late as the Diggers dropped the set 25-19.
The Orediggers returns home on Thursday as they host Bulldogs of Montana Western at 7 p.m. in the HYPER.
