Volleyball Takes on L-C State and Western this Weekend

BUTTE, Mont. - The Montana Tech volleyball team are back in action following a week hiatus as they travel to Lewis-Clark State on Thursday and Montana Western on Saturday.

Digger Rewind
The 14-8 Orediggers are coming of a much needed week of rest. Tech dropped back-to-back five-set matches two weeks ago. The Diggers held a 2-0 match lead to rival Carroll College on Friday Oct. 2nd. The Saints rallied to win the next three sets and the match.
 
The Orediggers led 2-1 at Great Falls on Oct. 3rd, however the Lady Argos rallied to the 3-2 victory.
 
On the Road Again
The Orediggers have played away from Kelvin Sampson Court in 12 of their last 13 matches. This week's matchups will mark five-straight matches on the road. Tech last home match was on Sept. 19th against L-C State.

Scouting the Warriors
L-C State went 4-1 last week. The Warriors started off the week with a sweep of NCAA DIII foe Whitworth. L-C then went to the Panther Invitational hosted by Davenport University. The Warriors won their first three matches before falling to Grand View University 1-3.
 
Senior Treneisha Doyle averaged 4.94 kills with a .319 attack percentage on the week. The senior also averaged 3.29 digs per set and had a career-high 31 digs against Ashford. For her efforts, Doyle won POTW honors.

Last time vs. Lewis-Clark State
Tech swept the Warriors earlier this season in Butte. Jordan Danz registered a double-double with 10 kills and 13 digs. Bailie Cortner added eight kills, three blocks and a dig while Makenzie Bauck had a match-high 37 assists. The victory marked the first time since the 2012 season that the Diggers have defeated L-C State.
 
Treneisha Doyle had 12 kills for the Warriors.
 
Scouting the Bulldogs
Montana Western won three straight matches at the Johnson & Wales invitational last weekend in Denver, Colo. The victories snapped an eight-match losing streak for the Bulldogs. Western defeated host Johnson & Wales 3-0, Dickinson State 3-2 and St. Louis Pharmacy 3-0.
 
Last time vs. Montana Western
Saturday's matchup marks the first meeting between the two teams of the 2015 season. The Orediggers won both matches last season. Tech swept Western in Butte and defeated the Bulldogs 3-1 in Dillon.
