SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Montana Tech finished pool play at the NAIA Volleyball National Tournament with a victory over Coastal Georgia. The Orediggers swept the Mariners 25-17, 25-19, 27-25.
The Orediggers (25-10) are 2-1 in Pool F after the final match of the round robin portion of the National Tournament.
The Mariners (30-10) finish pool play 1-2.
Eastern Oregon squares off with Georgetown (Ky.) at 2 p.m. MST to determine final seeding for the single-elimination bracket which start tomorrow. The Mountaineers are 2-0 while Georgetown is 0-2.
The Orediggers made quick work in the first set tallying 14 kills to just five by the Mariners and leading by as many as 10.
The second set contained strong hitting for the Orediggers with 16 kills and a 0.406 hitting percentage. The Orediggers finished the match with a 0.296.
Tech showed strong blocking in the match totaling 16 to eight from Coastal Georgia.
Coastal Georgia played neck-and-neck with Tech in the third taking a one point lead 25-24. A kills by Jordan Dan tied up the score at 25 before an attack error by
the Mariners and a block by
Bailie Cortner and
Gena McMillan sealed the victory.
Tech played nearly flawless in the last set notching 15 kills and just one error.
Danz led the Diggers with 12 kills hitting 0.231 in the match.
McMillan and
Nicole Peacock contributed nine kills each.
Cortner had seven blocks in the match and five kills.
Makenzie Bauck had 33 assists and two aces.
Rachel Amundson led the Mariners with 10 kills.
Seeding for the 16-team single elimination bracket is released later tonight.
