Strong Play Leads Diggers Past No. 24 Northwestern

Box Score LA MIRADA, Calif. – The Orediggers defeated their second ranked opponent at the Biola Summer Slam defeating No. 24 Northwestern (Iowa) 25-16, 25-19, 25-20.

Montana Tech finished the opening tournament with a 3-1 record defeating two top 25 teams and one receiving votes.

The Orediggers had 19 kills in the third set to earn the sweep. The team hit .277 and outhit Northwestern 40-34 in the match.

Nicole Peacock led the charge for the Diggers with 12 kills and three blocks hitting .435 in the match. She also helped out on defense posting eight digs.

Bailie Cortner hit a staggering .714 committing no errors. She had 10 kills and three blocks.

Jordan Danz and Katie Wiley had eight kills each. Danz also put up double-digit digs with 11.

Montana Tech returns home next week hosting the third annual Big Sky Volleyball Challenge. All matches will be played at the Civic Center in Butte this year.
