BUTTE, Mont. – Carroll College got even with Montana Tech in the second match of the season taking down the Orediggers 3-2.
The Saints took the first eight points in the fifth set before Tech got on the board. The difference was just too much to make up as the Diggers fell 15-8 in the final frame.
Similar to the first meeting between the two teams, both teams traded sets before Carroll strong armed the fifth 25-19, 18-25, 25-22, 21-25, 15-8.
The Orediggers (16-7, 6-1) lose their first Frontier Conference match of the year.
The Saints were outhit by the Diggers 60-53 but completed more of their attempts. Tech hit just .113 in the match while Carroll posted a .169.
Masha Korol led the Diggers with 13 kills and
Angela Molesworth had 13.
Haley Druyvestein was the only other Digger in double digits with 11.
Sabrina Hopcroft had 28 digs in the match.
Montana Tech travels to Lewiston, Idaho to take on the Lewis-Clark State Warriors Saturday.
