BUTTE—Montana Tech used a double-digit service aces to defeat the University of Providence in four sets on Friday night.
The No. 15 Orediggers rattled off three straight set victories after dropping the opening frame to the Argos. The victory was the sixth contest win for the Diggers who are undefeated in Frontier Conference play. The win was also Head Coach
Brian Solomon's 100
th coaching victory while at Montana Tech.
Montana Tech lost the first set 19-25, before battling back to win sets two, three, and four: 25-17, 25-22, and 26-24.
The Orediggers were led in hitting by
Masha Korol who tallied 11 kills.
Haley Druyvestein and Gena McMillen each posted nine kills for the Digger attack.
It was the aces of
Hannah Liss and
Gena McMillan that really pushed the momentum Tech's way. Liss and McMillan combined for eight of Montana Tech's ten kills in the match.
Heather Thompson and
Haley Druyvestein recorded seven and five blocks respectively while
Tori Chelini set 24 assists.
Sabrina Hopcroft tallied a match-high 17 digs on the evening.
Montana Tech (13-5, 6-0) travels to Des Moines, Iowa to take part in a tournament hosted by Grand View University next weekend. The Diggers return to conference play when they host Carroll College on October 19
th at 7PM.
