SIOUX CITY, Iowa – No. 3 Hastings (28-2) notched their third sweep of the NAIA National Tournament downing No. 14 Montana Tech 25-17, 29-27, 25-18 in the final match of pool play.
Montana Tech (24-9) receives their first loss at the NAIA National Tournament going 2-1 in pool play. The Orediggers are 4-2 in pool play the last two years.
Hastings showed off their defensive play at the net producing 29 blocks.
The Diggers had just 27 kills to 42 from the Broncos. Tech had their worst hitting performance of the season finishing the match with a .000.
After playing even during the first half of the initial frame at 12-12, the Broncos charged ahead scoring four straight points. Hastings finished the set on a 13-4 run.
The Orediggers led by as many as six points in the second set, but the Broncos battled back tying the score at 20. The teams went point for point before Hastings pulled ahead 29-27.
Tech trailed by just one 9-8 in the third frame, but Hastings used a 9-1 run to take a 17-9 lead. Hastings held the Orediggers at bay the rest of the set.
Angela Molesworth had a team-high 7 kills and a .250 hitting percentage.

Haley Druyvestein and
Nicole Peacock posted 5 kills each, but had 17 hitting errors combined.
Sabrina Hopcroft had 17 digs.
Matti Dabovich led the Broncos with 10 kills.
Seeding and schedule for the 16-team final bracket is released later today.
