Box Score 2 No. 14 Montana Tech Downs Southern Oregon in First Match
The Oredigger volleyball team opened the 2017 season with a 3-1 victory of Southern Oregon 21-25, 30-28, 25-19, 25-20. Overcoming a slow start, the Diggers won three straight sets after dropping the first frame. Â
Montana Tech hit negative in the first set and totaled just seven kills. The final three sets were a completely different story as the Diggers finished with a .222 for the match. The Orediggers led at the net with 53 kills to 45 by the Raiders. Southern Oregon hit just .088 in the match.
Ukrainian transfer
Masha Korol led the way in her first match as an Oredigger with 13 kills and a .235 hitting percentage. Â Sophomore
Gena McMillan had 11 kills.
Senior transfer
Angela Molesworth showed her accuracy with 10 kills and just two errors finishing with a .364 hitting percentage.
Sabrina Hopcroft had 17 digs.
The Orediggers finished with 11 blocks in the match.

Orediggers Hold on Against No. 9 Corban 3-2
Montana Tech upset No. 9 Corban and took five sets to do it. The Orediggers dropped sets one and three before charging ahead at the end of the match 22-25, 25-16, 21-25, 25-16, 15-13.
Hitting percentage for the team hit .211 for the match and the Orediggers out hit Corban 60-49.
Gena McMillan and
Angela Molesworth had 12 kills each. Molesworth completed almost half of her swings finishing with just two errors and a .400 hitting percentage.
Nicole Peacock and
Masha Korol were also in double-digit kills with 11 and 10.
Sophomore
Heather Thompson had nine kills and just one error hitting a team high .533 in the match.
Tori Chelinie and freshman
Kamaile Moody split time at setter and combined for 54 assists.
Montana Tech returns to the court tomorrow for two more matches at the Hope International and Vanguard Summer Slam. First match is at 11:00 a.m. against Trinity Christian College.
