Box Score HELENA, Mont.- The No. 17 Montana Tech volleyball team came back after dropping the first set to defeat Frontier Conference rival Carroll College on Sabrina Hopcroft's record setting night, 23-25, 27-25, 25-23, 25-19.
Hopcroft, a senior libero for the Orediggers, tallied a school record 53 digs in the comeback.
The Orediggers (23-6, 8-3) dropped the first set to the Saints 23-25.
Montana Tech rallied back in the second set. The Orediggers trailed 21-24 before taking the set 27-25 on a Maureen Jessop right handed kill.
The Orediggers again had to overcome adversity in the third set trailing 18-21 before Sabrina Hopcroft's extended service barrage earned the Diggers a 25-23 set victory.
In the fourth set Montana Tech claimed the match with a 25-19 set victory. The Diggers earned their fourth straight victory over Carroll College.
Montana Tech hit for .117 for the match while the Saints hit just a .108 clip. Maureen Jessop led the way for Montana Tech with 14 kills. Gena McMillan and Heather Thompson had 12 and 11 kills. McKenna Kaelber had 48 assists.
Lexi Mickelson led the way for the Saints with 16 kills.
Montana Tech hosts L-C State on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. for senior day.
