Bellevue, Neb.- Oredigger Volleyball started the GoSarpy.com Labor Day Classic off with a bang defeating Doane University 3-1(21-25, 26-24, 25-20, 25-20) in their opening match.
Montana Tech struggled out of the gate dropping the first set 21-25 before rebounding to take the second set 26-24. The Orediggers closed out the third and fourth sets at 25-20.
The Diggers (8-1) won their sixth consecutive match thanks to impressive play at the net on both the offensive and defensive side. Montana Tech hit for a .190 clip while attacking and registered 20 blocks defensively.
Karina Mickelson led the way with 14 kills while
McKenna Kaelber added 22 assists and
Sabrina Hopcroft registred a match-high 27 digs.
Heather Thompson led both teams in blocks with seven.
Montana Tech plays Central Methodist University (MO.) on Friday at noon.
