DES MOINES, Iowa- Montana Tech started the Grand View Tournament with a win over Ottawa (Kan.) in five sets.
The Orediggers (16-5) defeated Ottawa 25-17, 23-25, 23-25, 25-22, 15-13 to win the match. Montana Tech hit for .262 clip at the net and tallied 66 kills in the match.
Karina Mickelson led the way with 18 kills while
Maureen Jessop tallied 17 and
Olivia Muir scored 16.
McKenna Kaelber registered 51 assists in the match.
Sarah Hopcroft had 30 digs while the crew of
Sydney Parks,
McKenna Kaelber, and
Taylor Henley combined for 17 blocks at the net.
The Orediggers play again at 6 p.m. against Columbia College who came in at No. 19 in the latest NAIA Top-25 Poll.
