SIOUX CITY, Iowa – Montana Tech lost to No. 9 Midland (Neb.) in their second pool play match at the NAIA Women's Volleyball National Tournament 3-1.
Tech was up 21-15 in the first frame when the Warriors finished the set on an 11-3 run taking it 28-26.
Down in the second set, the Orediggers finished on a 4-1 run to take the set 28-26.
The Orediggers had nine blocks in the first two sets and finished with 14. The Warriors had nine blocks in the match.
Midland took the final two frames to win 28-26, 26-28, 25-16, 25-22.
The Warriors led in kills 60-52 and finished with a team hitting percentage of .220. The Orediggers had a team hitting percentage of .184.
Karina Mickelson led the Orediggers with 17 kills hitting for .214 in the match.
Olivia Muir had 11 kills and
Maureen Jessop finished with nine.
Taylor Henley had eight kills and eight blocks.
Sydney Parks had eight kills and six blocks.
McKenna Kaelber had 41 assists and six blocks.
Taliyah Flores led the Warriors with 18 kills and Cortlyn Schaefer had 17.
Montana Tech is 1-1 after pool play. Midland is 1-0 and faces Marian who lost their first match to the Orediggers 3-2 earlier today. A Marian victory will force a playoff tomorrow night.
