BUTTE, Mont. – Montana Tech fought hard but could not quite overcome a strong Rocky Mountain College squad falling in four sets 26-24, 25-17, 22-25, 26-24.
The Orediggers (4-7) went extra point in the first and fourth frames but couldn't quite put the Battlin' Bears (11-1) away. The Orediggers outhit the Bears 64-62 in kills, but committed 30 hitting errors to 20 from the Bears.
Rocky hit .250 in the match while Tech finished with a .193.
Rocky had 13 blocks to 7 from Tech.
Karina Mickelson led all hitters with a season high 23 kills hitting .145 in the match.
Maureen Jessop finished with 18 kills hitting .279.
Kyra Oakland had 19 kills for the Bears. Morgan Allen and Weiying Wu finished with 12 each.
Montana Tech hosts Rocky Mountain College again tomorrow at 1 p.m.
