BUTTE, Mont. – The Montana Tech volleyball team swept Montana State Northern winning 25-21, 25-13, 25-21 and earn the Frontier Conference Championship crown.
Head coach
Brian Solomon notched his third regular season title and earn the top seed in the Frontier Conference Tournament.
The Orediggers (24-7, 9-1) have won 13 of their last 14 matches and are perfect at home during the conference season. Tech is the host of the Frontier Conference Tournament this year which takes place next Friday and Saturday at the HPER Complex.
The No. 15 Orediggers attack has been strong all season and continued tonight outhitting the Skylights 41-30 with a team hitting percentage of .207. Tech has hit over .200 in seven of their last eight matches.
Maureen Jessop led the attack with 15 kills and a .293 hitting percentage. Jessop had a team-high four blocks.
Freshman
Kinnidi Willmore is coming on strong late in the season as well finishing the night with eight kills on just 18 attempts for a .278 hitting percentage.
Taylor Henley had seven kills.
Freshman Olivia Caddy had 18 digs and
Emma Carvo had another 15.
McKenna Kaelber had 31 assists.
Jessalyn Chvilicek and Macee Murphy had the nine kills each for Northern (11-11, 3-6).
The Orediggers start their postseason next Friday at the Frontier Conference Tournament. Tech receives a first-round bye and plays in the 7 p.m. semifinal.
