BILLINGS, Mont. – Montana Tech finished day one of the Frontier Conference Preseason Tournament 1-1 after beating MSU-Northern in a morning matchup before falling to Montana Western in the afternoon.
The Frontier Conference Preseason Tournament is hosted by Rocky Mountain College. Each match of the tournament will count as a non-conference contest for the Frontier Conference teams.
No. 20 Montana Tech 3 vs. MSU-Northern 0
Montana Tech started the day with a sweep of MSU-Northern 25-16, 25-19, 25-12.
The Orediggers (10-5) outhit the Lights (8-2) 31-19 with a .170 scoring average versus -.070 by MSU-Northern.
Maureen Jessop led the attack for the Orediggers finishing with 10 kills accompanied by
Olivia Muir and
Taylor Henley who each finished with 6 kills. Henley hit for a .316 clip to go along with 3 blocks.
McKenna Kaelber led the Orediggers with 26 assists while
Olivia Cady finished with 17 digs.
The Lights were led by Alana Graves with 8 kills and Kaitlin Murdock with 14 digs.

In their second match of Friday action, Montana Tech fell in straight sets to Montana Western 22-25, 20-25, 16-25.
The Orediggers (10-6) committed 13 service errors in the contest compared to 4 by the Bulldogs (7-7), who outhit Montana Tech .189 to .107 respectively despite each team finishing with 35 total kills.
Reigning Frontier Conference Attacker of the Week
Maureen Jessop led Montana Tech with 16 kills, while
McKenna Kaelber finished with 23 assists and
Olivia Cady chipped in with 15 digs.
The Bulldogs were led by Kaylee Kopp with 11 kills and a .323 hitting percentage along with Kelsey Goddard who finished with 17 digs.
Montana Tech will wrap up play at the Frontier Conference Preseason Tournament tomorrow with matches against Carroll College at 11 a.m. and host Rocky Mountain College at 5 p.m.
