Box Score Butte, Mont.- The Orediggers of Montana Tech are now alone atop the Frontier Conference after a 3-0 sweep of the University of Providence.
Montana Tech (19-3, 5-1 Conf.) started the match on fire, and never cooled off, sweeping the Argos 25-21, 25-21, 29-27.
The Orediggers hit a staggering .327 for the match and tallied 43 kills in the three-set match. Even more impressive than that Montana Tech stacked up 11.0 total Blocks, with only eight errors committed on the night.
Senior leader
Maureen Jessop led from the front with 16 kills on 30 attacks, hitting .467 and accruing 18 points.
Olivia Muir finished the night hitting an incredible .522, with 13 kills. Sophomore
Kinnidi Willmore put down six kills, she also received credit for one block.
The Oredigger's defense at the net was impressive. In the three-set match, Montana Tech put up 11.0 total blocks.
Taylor Henley had two solo blocks and three assists. Jessop, Muir, and Labeau each had one solo block on the night.
Rhys Layton led with 23 assists, and
Jelena Jablanov wrangled 11 digs.
Providence just never got on track, finishing with a .110 hitting percentage. They were led by Nina Janjic and Martyna Fielder, each with eight kills on the night.
The University of Providence (12-9, 4-2 Conf.) came into Friday's match on a four-game winning streak. Their last loss coming to Montana Tech in Great Falls on September 22
nd. Their next match will in Great Falls against Carroll College on October 27
th.
Montana Tech, winners of five straight, is currently No. 10 in the country and will be on the road for the next three matches. They will be in Havre to battle the Skylights on Thursday, October 26
th followed by Rocky Mountain College on Saturday the 28
th.
