Bulldogs Upset Volleybal at Tournament

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – Montana Western upset the Montana Tech volleyball team with a sweep in the semifinals of the Frontier Conference Volleyball Tournament hosted by the University of Providence.

The upset of the Orediggers (22-5) lose just their fifth match of the season falling 25-21, 25-21, 25-21.

The Bulldogs (19-7) move on to the championship match tomorrow against Providence.

The Bulldogs were strong offensively at the net finishing with a kill margin of 53-36 and a team hitting percentage of .296.

The Orediggers had a team hitting percentage of .200 and led defensively at the net in blocks 9-6.

Maureen Jessop led the Orediggers in kills with 11 and hit for .216.

Olivia Muir finished with 10 kills hitting for .214.          

Rhys Layton had 17 assists and McKenna Kaelber finished with 14.

Jelena Jablanov had 18 dig to lead the team.

Olivia LeBeau had a game-high five blocks.

Kaylee Kopp led the Bulldogs with 11 kills while hitting .171 in the match.

Danyel Martin and Jazi Smith had nine kills each. Martin finished hitting .467.  

The NAIA National Tournament Opening Round and hosts will be announced on Monday.
