The Frontier Conference volleyball regular season officially gets underway this Friday, and the Orediggers will start on the road at the University of Providence.
The other matches on Friday are:
Montana Western @ MSU-Northern 7pm
Carroll College @ Rocky Mountain 7pm
The Frontier Conference had two teams in the last Top 25 poll, Montana Tech at #11, and Rocky Mountain at #23, the University of Providence did receive votes but not enough to land in the Top 25.
After going 4-0 at the Frontier Conference Preseason Tournament, the Orediggers enter conference play at 11-2 overall. Both losses coming at the Viterbo University Tournament, the first to #4 Viterbo University, and then Dakota State University.
As we prepare for conference play, Montana Tech has a very strong presence in the list of conference stat leaders.
All-American
Maureen Jessop leads the conference with 3.33 kills per set. Right behind her is teammate
Olivia Muir with 3.31. On the season Jessop has tallied 163 total kills, and Muir has marked 162. Olivia is also No. 3 in conference with a .285 hitting percentage.
Middle blocker
Taylor Henley continues her powerful run in the center, with 48 total blocks, averaging 1.0 per set. Her 48 total is 5
th in conference, her 1.0 average is good for 4
th.
Freshman
Rhys Layton has already accrued 343 assists, which works out to 7.00 assists per set. Both of those numbers are third highest in the conference.
That brings us to
Kinnidi Willmore. Kinnidi leads conference with 21 service aces, and also leads the conference in Service Aces per Set (by a wide margin) at 0.53.
Providence enters conference play at 8-7 overall. The Argos went 1-3 in Dillon at the Frontier Tournament, beating Carroll 3-1, and falling to Rocky, Western, and Northern.
Nina Janjic paces the Argos with 185 kills overall, averaging 3.25 kills per set.
The Orediggers match at Providence is scheduled for a 7pm start.
Montana Tech returns home for their home matches since August 19
th, when they host MSU-Northern on Friday September 29
th, and Rocky Mountain on Saturday September 30
th.
