HELENA, Mont. -- Following her record-breaking performance last week, Montana Tech junior Jadyn Vermillion earned the Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week award, the league office announced Tuesday.

Vermillion set a new Montana Tech indoor record in the women's long jump, leaping 5.65 meters on her way to a runner-up finish at Montana State's Bobcat PReview meet in Bozeman last Thursday. The mark topped Vermillion's previous program record by .06m and gave Vermillion her first NAIA 'B' qualifying standard of the season.

The Myrtle Creek, Ore. native also set a pair of personal bests at the meet. She triple-jumped 11.18m for a new collegiate best on her way to third in that event, and Vermillion raced to eighth in the 60m hurdles in a PR time of 9.08 seconds.

Vermillion's honor was half of a Montana Tech sweep of the field athlete of the week marks. Cade VanVleet took the honor on the men's side.

Montana Tech's track & field teams will break for the holidays before returning to indoor competition January 16 at Idaho State University's Snake River Open.
