The #21 ranked Montana Tech Orediggers overcame a challenging start to defeat the Dakota Wesleyan Tigers in four sets, with scores of 24-26, 25-22, 25-12, 25-14. The match was the second of three for Montana Tech at the Big Sky Volleyball Challenge, hosted by Advantage Butte.
After dropping a closely contested first set 24-26, the Orediggers responded by winning the next three sets.
Freshman Piper Jette led the way offensively, achieving a match-high .462 hitting percentage and contributing 16 kills. Rhys Layton finished the match with 46 assists and Kinnidi Willmore also continued her strong form with a match-high 17 kills to go along with three blocks.
On the defensive side, Jelena Jablanov was a standout, recording 28 digs, and Olivia LaBeau added 5 blocks.
Dakota Wesleyan was led by Kayleigh Hybertson with eight kills and 18 assists, and Karly VenDerWerff who led all players with seven blocks.
Montana Tech will conclude their participation in the Big Sky Volleyball Challenge Saturday with a match against Loyola University New Orleans at 11 am at the Butte Civic Center.
