SPOKANE, Wash. -- Montana Tech's track & field teams returned to indoor-season action Friday, both at the Whitworth Invitational in Spokane, Wash., and Idaho State's Mountain State Games in Pocatello, Idaho.
Senior
Jadyn Vermillion led the way for the Orediggers at Spokane's The Podium, placing second in the long jump at 5.67 meters, her second-best leap of the season.
Over at Idaho State,
MaKenzie Sheils led the way for the Tech women, coming in third in the 600m run at 1:37.08 for the 30th-fastest time in the NAIA this season. Teammate
Kamryn Comba came in fourth at 1:37.22.
Rylee Armstrong took seventh in the pentathlon, scoring 2,981 points. The Lewistown native was third in the high jump (1.53m) and fifth in the long jump (5.22m).
On the distance side,
Alyssa Plant led the way in the 5,000m, placing 18th at 18:29.73, the third-fastest time in Montana Tech history.
Cade VanVleet led the way for the Tech men with a fifth-place finish in the shot put. His 16.15m throw was his fourth-best of the season.
The Orediggers will divide and conquer again Saturday, keeping a crew in both cities for the second day of competition.
