BILLINGS -- Morgan Jones spiked a career-high 13 kills,
Kennedy Oman tallied seven blocks, and the No. 24-ranked Montana Tech volleyball team earned its third-straight win with a 25-19, 25-20, 25-19 road sweep of Rocky Mountain Saturday evening.
The Orediggers (14-3, 9-2 Frontier Conference) dominated at the net defensively on Saturday, totaling 14 blocks. Six different players checked their names in the blocks column.
Montana Tech pulled ahead 7-3 in the early going of the opening set before host RMC (3-12, 1-10) closed the gap. The Battlin' Bears pulled within three at 16-13, but the Orediggers ripped off a 6-3 run to close the set out.
Rocky Mountain rushed out to a 3-0 lead in the second and held the advantage a good way into the set, but Tech righted the ship at the ideal time. An
Ellie Reinertson ace tied the set at 10, and the Orediggers finished the chapter on a 10-2 run to take the second. Jones put down the final two kills of the set.
Jones took over in the third. The redshirt freshman collected seven kills in the final stanza to power the Orediggers to a wire-to-wire win in the clincher.
Brooklynn Hayes tallied a team-high 15 digs, and
Rhys Layton distributed 29 assists for the Orediggers.
Montana Tech will continue its tour of the Frontier Conference Wednesday with a trip to Montana Western for a 6 p.m. first serve.
