VALLEY CITY, N.D. -- Montana Tech volleyball junior
Madison Biery turned in yet another record-breaking performance Saturday, hitting .818 with nine kills to top her own program record for hitting percentage in a match in the Orediggers' 25-18, 25-22, 25-10 sweep over Valley City State Saturday on the road.
Halle Moomaw led the team with 10 kills while Biery and
Payton Treadwell both put down nine.
Biery converted nine of her 11 attack attempts into kills without any errors, besting her own team record for hitting percentage in a match. Her prior mark of .813 against Ottawa (Ariz.) on August 22.
Moomaw was also super efficient for the Orediggers, hitting .500 (10-for-18 with one error), while Treadwell hit .474 (9-for-19 with no errors).
Rhys Layton tallied a team-high 32 assists, while
Austin Long collected an Oredigger-best 10 digs. Moomaw and
Kennedy Oman both totaled three blocks for Montana Tech (7-1, 2-0 Frontier Conference).
After falling behind 8-5 in the opening set, Montana Tech took control of the match. The Orediggers went on an 8-2 run to win the advantage in the opener before storming through the final two sets of the match for their second sweep in as many days.
Montana Tech will return to Butte for three Frontier matches this coming week beginning Wednesday against rival Montana Western. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
