Felisha Johnson, OLY, is coming off a successful year coaching at Anderson University in Indiana, where she had multiple conference championships both indoor and outdoor for the Ravens. She also coached her athletes to numerous personal records, including coaching Michael Sweigart to some of his best performances of the year, including first in the weight throw, and second in the shotput (indoor) and collected USTFCCA all- region honors in the process.
Johnson competed at Indiana State University from 2009-13. She was a two-time NCAA Division I champion in the weight throw, a nine-time All-American in various throwing events, and held three program records for the Sycamores. A three-time indoor and two-time outdoor All-Missouri Valley Conference selection, she helped ISU to conference titles in both indoor and outdoor and was named the MVC's most valuable athlete in women's field in 2013. She was also the USTFCCCA's Great Lakes Region Women's Indoor and Outdoor Field Athlete of the Year that year.
She threw shot put in U.S. Olympic Trials in 2012 and the World University Games in Russia in 2013.
Johnson continued her throwing career as a professional, where she represented the United States at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She finished 14th in the weight throw at that Olympics. She still trains today, coached by legendary track & field coach Larry Judge (also an Indiana State alum) who has coached numerous other Olympic athletes and Paralympic athletes. Judge has also had stints in the college ranks, coaching at Indiana State University, University of Florida, South Carolina, and Wyoming.
Johnson is a 2020 Hall of Fame Inductee for the Sycamores.
