Orediggers Fall to Bulldogs 3-1

Western picks up first conferecen win

Korey Krumm going for the kill Thursday night
Butte – One team came away from Thursday night's match with their first Frontier Conference victory, but it wasn't Tech. The Orediggers lost to the University of Montana Western Bulldogs in four sets, 21-14, 25-18, 10-25, 25-20.

Western improved to (1-6) in the Frontier and (6-12) overall.  Still without their first Frontier win, Montana Tech falls to the bottom of the conference at (0-6) and (7-12) overall.

The Lady Diggers played a strong match finishing with 40 kills and ten blocks. Coming on strong in the third set with fourteen kills, Tech seemed like they were going to make a charge after a bumpy first two sets. Shersteen Cline led the Orediggers with 11 kills, seven digs and two blocks. Emily Matosich and Korey Krumm turned in solid performances. Each of them recorded seven kills and Krumm added four blocks.

Bailey Branson led the Bulldogs with five digs and ten kills with a 0.208 hitting efficiency. Kayla Schmid also added ten kills for the Bulldogs. Western had 44 kills and seven blocks on the night.

The Lady Diggers take on the Great Falls Argos October 14th in Butte on Kelvin Sampson Court.
