Warriors Defense Shuts Down Lady Diggers

Box Score Butte-Lewis-Clark State's tough defense and size prove to be too much for the Lady Diggers Saturday night as they fall to the Warriors 62-54 at Kelvin Sampson Court.

The Lady Diggers lose their second straight and move to (0-2) in the Frontier Conference. The Warriors pick up their first win in the Frontier and are now (1-1).

LC State proved their defense is a force to be reckoned with as they held the Lady Diggers to 29% shooting and 28.6% from three point range. The Warriors recorded 11 blocks on the night.
LC State had the lead for most of the first half. Montana Tech would get within three with 5:50 left. The Warriors would take a 37-31 lead into the break.

Montana Tech had a chance to get back in the game in the second half as they held LC State scoreless until the 15:20 mark but had trouble scoring themselves by only picking up three points. The Warriors tough defense would keep the Diggers at bay for the rest of the half and finish them off for a final score of 62-54.

Sophomore Dannii Devenny had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds leading the Lady Diggers in scoring. Devenny shot 50% from the field and had a block and a steal.

Freshman Mandy Machinal had 16 point and five rebounds.

Senior Alyssa Fierro led the Warriors in scoring with 18 points. Fierro had a double-double adding 12 rebounds to her night's totals and two blocks to round out a solid defensive effort.
