Box Score Butte-Montana Tech broke their losing slide in an extreme fashion. After losing six straight, the Orediggers took down No. 13 MSU-Northern 63-55 at Kelvin Sampson Court. This was the first win against Northern since 2010.
Montana Tech improves to 4-8 in conference play. Northern falls to 6-5 in the Frontier.
The Orediggers jumped out 4-0 at the beginning of the game expanded their lead to as many as seven. The Lights worked their way back into the game and went up by one, 23-22 with 4:02 to go in the half. This would be the only time they had the lead during the game. Tech would finish the first half with an 8-0 run to lead 23-31 at the break.
In the second half, the Orediggers would jump out to a quick start once again and increase their lead to 28-42 at the 13:06 mark. The Lights would creep back slowly coming within three points, 45-48 with 4:49 left in the game. The Orediggers would keep the Lights at bay the rest of the game with a final score of 55-63.
Montana Tech hits the road this week when they take on two NCAA Division I opponents. On Monday, the Orediggers will be in Orem, Utah facing Utah Valley State.
