In the Orediggers home opener against Eastern Oregon, Montana Tech's last second field goal was wide left, which would have forced overtime. The Orediggers lost 26-23 to the Mountaineers.

Pat Hansen was the Oredigger's player of the game. The sophomore running back had 116 yards on the ground and two touchdowns.
Nick Baker completed 39 of 55 passes for 430 yards a touchdown.
Kevin Moss led the receiving core with 9 receptions for 151 yards.
Montana Tech had five turnovers while only forcing two.
