In the Orediggers home opener against Eastern Oregon, Montana Tech's last second field goal was wide left, which would have forced overtime. The Orediggers lost 26-23 to the Mountaineers.

The teams scored a combined 27 total points in the fourth quarter. Montana Tech led 23-19 with under four minutes to go in the game. Tech quarterback Nick Baker fumbled and Eastern Oregon's Michael Goings recovered at the 3:33 mark at the Eastern 43 yard line. Eastern Oregon marched down the field and scored with 40 seconds on the clock giving them a 26-23 lead.

Montana Tech's Nick Baker completed a 27 yard pass to junior transfer Kevin Moss putting Tech at the 24 yard line. This would set up a Matt Berg 41 yard field goal. An EOU illegal substitution penalty shortened the kick to 36 yards. Berg kicked wide left as time expired.

Pat Hansen was the Oredigger's player of the game. The sophomore running back had 116 yards on the ground and two touchdowns.

Nick Baker completed 39 of 55 passes for 430 yards a touchdown.

Kevin Moss led the receiving core with 9 receptions for 151 yards.

Montana Tech had five turnovers while only forcing two.

The Orediggers play Carroll College at Alumni Coliseum September 8 at 1 PM.
