The Lady Diggers hit the road for two Frontier Conference match-ups this week. The team will be in Helena to face the No. 25 Carroll College tonight and in Billings on Thursday night to take on Rocky Mountain College.
The volleyball team has struggled against Carroll in recent history. Tech is 2-9 against the Saints since 2007 including one tournament loss. The last time Tech defeated Carroll was October 13, 2007 at the HPER Complex in Butte. The last time
Tech won in Helena was September 12, 2007. That game was the conference opener.
Against Rocky, Tech is 1-5 since 2009 and 3-9 since 2007 including one tournament loss. The last time Tech defeated Rocky was October 23, 2009 at the HPER Complex. The last time Tech won in Billings was September 13, 2007. In 2007, Tech defeated the Battlin' Bears twice during the regular season and lost to Rocky in the Frontier Tournament.
Montana Tech is coming off a home loss to Westminster College. The Griffins downed the Lady Diggers 3-1 last Saturday. Tech (11-4, 1-2) has lost their last two conference games after defeating Western in the conference opener. Both opponents, Westminster and Lewis-Clark State, are currently ranked or receiving votes in the Top 25 Coaches' Poll.
No. 25 Carroll (12-5, 2-1) has won two matches in a row after being upset by MSU-Northern in Havre to open the conference season. They started the conference season ranked No. 15.
Rocky Mountain College (5-11, 1-2) has lost their last two conference matches after winning the opener at Dickinson State.
The young Lady Diggers team is leading the Frontier Conference in Hitting Percentage (0.223), Kills per Set (12.9) and Digs per Set (19.2). Nationally, Tech is ranked 27th in Kills per game and sixth in Digs per Game.

Kimmy Kavran is having a tremendous start to her college career. She is ranked first in the Frontier and NAIA Division I in Total Digs (419) and Digs per Game (7.22).

Alison Lunde ranks first in the conference and seventh in Division I in Assists (603) and first and 19th in Assists per Game (10.4).
Senior
Shersteen Cline leads the team in kills (166) averaging 3.2 per set. The outside hitter from Big Sandy had 15 kills last weekend against Westminster.
Freshman
Mikayla Sullivan returns to the court after missing the last match with illness. Sullivan is leading the team in blocks (0.6 per set). She averages 1.9 kills per set and is hitting 0.325.
The Lady Diggers play on the road their next four matches before returning home on October 5th when they host the University of Great Falls.
