DeWit Dominates in Lady Digger Victory

Butte, Mont. – Behind a dominant Kelsey DeWit performance, the Lady Diggers sunk the Argos 84-47 Friday night at Kelvin Sampson Court.

Montana Tech (12-8, 5-3) defeats the Argos for the second time in as many tries having playing in Great Falls less than a week ago.

The Argos (11-12, 1-8) fall below .500 after losing their eighth straight contest.

The Diggers shot the lights out in the game. Tech hit 78-percent from beyond the arc in the game hitting 7 for 9 in the game. From the field, the Diggers hit 49.3-percent from the field.

On the other side of the coin, Great Falls shot just 29.5-percent from the field.  

Junior center DeWit scored the first 12 points for the Diggers. She totaled 10 points, two rebounds and a block in the first five minutes of action. With 12 minutes left in the game, DeWit was taken out finishing with 22 points, nine rebounds and a block playing just 20 minutes on the night.

Mandy Machinal had 18 points and four assists. She went 2 for 3 from three-point and 6 of 10 in the game.

Laini Kalumbi and Lisa Laslovich were the other two Diggers in double-digit scoring. Kalumbi finished with 14 points and Laslovich with 10.

Dannii Devenny grabbed eight of her 14 rebounds in the first half and would finish with seven assists, most to DeWit, and four points.

Kindra Jones led the Argos with 11 points, seven rebounds and two blocks.

Montana Tech is home again tomorrow night when they host Carroll College. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. at Kelvin Sampson Court.
