Butte, Mont. – The Orediggers surged in the second half to take down the Saints 73-60 at Kelvin Sampson Court Saturday night.
Montana Tech (13-10, 4-5) wins their second straight game. Thirteen wins is the most in a season since the 1999 Frontier Conference Championship team.
Carroll (1-19, 0-9) loses to the Orediggers for the second time this season.
The Orediggers were slow out of the gate trailing by eight 24-16 with 8:09 in the first half. Tech chipped away at the lead ending the half down 35-33.
In the second half, Tech came out much stronger and didn't play from behind the rest of the game.
The Orediggers accumulated six charges in the game including four by
Brandon Rydberg. Carroll finished with 15 fouls to Tech's 8.
Tech shot 50.9-percent from the field in the game. Down the stretch, Tech turned around their free throw shooting. The Orediggers went 8 for 8 from the stripe in the second half.
Adam Greger hit 3 of 6 from beyond the arc netting 21 in the game. He added three rebounds and an assist.
Rydberg had 16 points hitting 4 of 9 from downtown. He also had seven rebounds and three assists on the night.
Bryan Bock had another great night on the weekend. He finished with 14 points and eight rebounds.
Dan Simon had eight points, six rebounds and seven assists in a solid effort.
Dennis Mikelonis led the Saints with 23 points and nine rebounds.
Montana Tech makes the long road trip to Dickinson State next weekend. The Blue Hawks host the Orediggers Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
