Carroll Stifles Tech

HELENA, Mont. – Carroll College got their revenge Saturday and a Homecoming win stifling the Orediggers 21-7.

No. 7 Montana Tech (1-1) was handed their first loss of the season.

No. 12 Carroll College (3-0, Frontier 2-0) keeps their home winning streak against the Orediggers alive making it 13-0 since 2001.

A punt return by Jared Mayernik in the first half and a strong rushing attack kept Tech out of the game. Dustin Rinker finished with 177 yards and two touchdowns and Dakota Stonehouse had 68 yards on the ground.

Carroll dominated the time of possession 46:21 to just 28:39 for the Orediggers.

Pat Hansen scored the lone touchdown for Tech crossing the goal line in the third quarter. He finished with just 75 yards on the ground.

The Tech defense played strong despite Mike Touzinsky's absence with stomach flu. The defense grabbed two interceptions including the third one of the season for Andre Cornell. The team had three sacks by Niall Padden, Rob Corson and Levi Cade.

Montana Tech opens their home schedule and first game on the new artificial turf next week against UM-Western.
