Box Score LA GRANDE, Ore. - Eastern Oregon earsed a 20-14 halftime deficit to defeat Montana Tech 31-20 Saturday afternoon at Community Stadium. The Diggers led 20-7 midway through the second quarter but EOU scored 24 unanswered points to seal the victory.
With the loss Tech falls to 1-8 overall and 1-8 Frontier while the 23rd-ranked Mountaineers improve to 6-3 overall, 5-3 in conference play.
On a rainy Saturday afternoon, both teams relied on the run game for offense. Tech's
Pat Hansen rushed for 166 yards on 31 carries for a touchdown. The senior also caught a 21-yard TD pass from
Dawson Reardon.Â
On the defensive side,
Zach Hulse had a big game for the Diggers with a pick six in the first quarter giving Tech the early 14-0 lead. The redshirt sophomore also had a team-high 12 tackles including 2.5 for a loss.Â
The Diggers return to the Mining City on senior day Saturday Nov. 8th when they host Frontier Conference leader Southern Oregon at noon.
