BUTTE, Mont. – The University of Alberta Golden Pandas stopped the Orediggers in their tracks Sunday afternoon 79-66.
Montana Tech (3-1) picks up their first loss of the season.
The Panda defense held the Diggers to 27.8 percent shooting from the field and 3 of 16 from three point. Alberta dominated at the boards grabbing 56 rebounds to Tech's 42.
The Orediggers led after the first quarter taking 17-14 lead into the first break. Cold shooting in the second frame allowed the Pandas to get out to a sizeable lead before halftime. The Pandas held Montana Tech to just nine points in the second. Despite keeping pace in the second half, the Orediggers could not pick up any ground.
Junior
Callee Remsen led Tech with 17 points and five rebounds.
Rachel Farris turned in another double-double performance with 11 points and 10 rebounds. It was her second double-double in as many games.
Hattie Thatcher had 12 points, four assists and three steals.
Megan Wiskstrom led the Pandas with 23 points and four rebounds.
Montana Tech returns to action in an exhibition at Montana State on November 4
th.
