BUTTE- The Diggers used a strong second half to defeat St. Thomas 83-73 Friday night.
Montana Tech trailed the Wildcats 44-37 at the intermission before outscoring St. Thomas 46-29 in the final two quarters. Montana Tech went on a 18-7 run to end the third quarter.
Sammy McGree scored a game-high 22 points on 8-of-16 shooting while
Callee Remsen scored 20 points, pulled down five boards, and dished out three assists in the victory. The junior from Great Falls was an efficient 5-of-11 from the floor and 10-of-11 from the free throw line for the Diggers.
Shayla Mack was 3-of-4 from downtown on the way to 15 points.
Hattie Thatcher scored 13 points, tallied 8 assists, and had five steals while playing all 40 minutes of the game.
Montana Tech shot 46.7 percent from the field and 85.7 percent from the free throw line.
The Lady Diggers are on the road for the forseeable future traveling to Dickinson State next Saturday. The game with the Bluehawks tips off at 2 p.m.
Montana Tech returns home December 5 when they face Lewis-Clark State in the second game of the Frontier Conference season.
