HELENA, Mont. – The Diggers dropped the 72-63 decision against rival Carroll College Thursday night at the PE Center. Tech shot 55.8 percent from the field and was a perfect 10-of-10 from the charity stripe but the team's 17 turnovers were costly.
The lost marks the sixth straight for the Diggers who are holding on for final spot in the conference tournament.
Tech had a slow start to the first half trailing 24-10 at the 12:48 mark. Tech rallied back and shot an amazing 71.4 percent in the half. The Copper and Green pulled within six at 32-26 off of an
Adam Greger three pointer from

Chase Haack decreased the Saint lead down to two points via a steal and fast-break basket with 37 ticks left in the half, however Carroll's Jake Hollifield connected on a two-point shot to give the Saints the 38-34 edge at half.
Carroll started the second half with a 6-0 run to extend their lead to 44-34. Tech went on a run of their own to cut the lead down to four early in the half. Both squads went back-and-forth on the scoreboard until Tech's
Reid Baerlocher hit a corner three at the 6:39 mark to cut the lead down to one at 59-58. That was as close as Tech would get as the Saints scored the final six points in the stanza to take the 72-63 victory.
Senior
Trent Thompson had a career night for the Diggers (13-12, 4-7 Frontier) with a career- and game-best 21 points. Forward Greger had his 22
nd double figure game of the season and eighth in the row with 17 points. The senior also pulled down a team-high six board. Haack came off the bench to score eight points, commit four thefts and dish out two assists.
Carroll improves to 18-8, 7-5 Frontier with the victory. Freshman Oliver Carr led four Saints in double figures with 14 points.
Tech looks to rebound Saturday at Rocky Mountain at 7:30 p.m.
