HASTINGS, Neb. – The No. 20 Ordiggers went 1-1 on the first day of the Five Points Bank Invitational Friday afternoon. Tech defeated Peru State 3-1 in its first match before falling to host and 19
th-ranked Hastings College.
Match one: No. 20 Tech 3, Peru State 1The Diggers dropped the first set to the Bobcats but rebounded by winning three straight to beat Peru State 21-25, 25-13, 30-28, 25-19 in their first match of the day. With the victory, Tech's win-streak escalated to six.
Junior
Jordan Danz led the way with a match-high 18 kills with a .259 hit percentage to go along with 2.5 blocks and nine digs.
Sydney Norris (11) and
Haley Druyvestein (12) each had double digit kills while Makenzie Buack added a match-high 52 assists.
Frontier Conference service ace leader
Kylee Berridge added to her lead with four aces.
Jhessica Martins had 12 kills and 11 digs to lead Peru State (9-2).
Match two: No. 19 Hastings 3, No. 20 Tech 2The NAIA Match of the Week between the 19
th-ranked Broncos and the 20
th-ranked Orediggers lived up to the hype as the exciting match was decided in five sets. Hastings College (8-3) snapped Tech's six-game win-streak with the 25-16, 28-30, 25-23, 24-26, 10-15 victory.
Sydney Norris had another double-double on the day with 14 kills and 18 digs.
Jordan Danz and Bailie Cornter added 15 and 13 kills respectively. Libero
Angie Pancost contributed with a match-high 22 digs while freshman
Kylee Berridge added four service aces.
Sage Meyer had a match-high 23 kills along with 16 digs to lead the Broncos.
