Orediggers Fall Twice on Final Day of Five Points Bank Invitational

HASTINGS, Neb. – The No. 20 Ordiggers dropped their final two matches on the second day of the Five Points Bank Invitational Saturday afternoon. Tech (12-4) fell to No. 4 Midland University 3-0 in the first match of the day and (RV) Concordia University took down the Diggers in five.

Match one: Midland 3, Tech 0

The Warriors proved why they are ranked fourth in the country as they had 41 kills on the day while limiting the Diggers to 25.

Jordan Danz continued to have a strong showing at the tournament as she had a team-high eight kills to go along with three digs and a block. Makenzie Bauck added 24 assists, three digs and a block for the Diggers while Haley Druyvestein chipped in with four kills and two blocks.

KC Heimann led the way for Midland (12-0) with 10 kills and 10 digs.

Match two: Concordia 3, Tech 2

The Orediggers regrouped in their second match however the hard-hitting Bulldogs had 70 kills on 193 attacks to win the match 21-25, 25-17, 21-25, 26-24, 12-15 in the final match of the Tournament.

Sydney Norris (12k, 11d) and Jordan Danz (10k, 18d) each contributed with a double-double for the Orediggers. Makenzie Bauck had a strong showing with a team-high 42 assists while Angie Pancost added 19 digs.

Concordia University (11-3) had four players with double-figure kills including Annie Friesen who had a match-high 17.

The Orediggers look to bounce back next week when they begin Frontier Conference play at Rocky Mountain College and Lewis-Clark State.
