Billings, Mont. – No. 23 Montana Tech (12-7, 0-1) opened the conference season at No. 6 Rocky Mountain (11-4, 1-0) Thursday night falling in four sets.
After dropping the first set, the Orediggers took a quick lead in set two before the Battlin' Bears tied the score at 19-19. After tying again at 20, the Orediggers won the set with five straight points 25-20.
Tech led early in the third set before Rocky tied the score at nine. Rocky continued the rally not letting up until winning the third 25-18.
The Orediggers controlled much of the fourth leading 20-15. Rocky made a 7-2 run against the Orediggers to tie the score at 22. After back and forth points, Rocky pulled away for a 25-23 final.
