BUTTE, Mont. – Montana Tech played with Rocky Mountain College until the final minutes of the game falling 82-67.
Cruz Ginns Jr. hit a three to bring Montana Tech within two 62-60 with 6:46 in the game, but Rocky outscored Tech 20-5 in the final minutes.
The Orediggers (5-12, 0-5) are still looking for their first conference victory while Rocky (11-5, 2-2) pulls even in conference play.
Forward Rob Nyby was difficult to stop scoring a game high 26 points. Nyby hit 3 of 5 from beyond the arc, two of which came in Rocky's final run of the game.
Rocky played tough under the basket scoring 53 points in the paint and outrebounding the Orediggers 52-38.
Ginns Jr. led the Orediggers with 16 points shooting 5 for 8 from the field and 3 for 5 from long. He was perfect from the line going 3 for 3.
Rocky center Ben Moerkerke posted a double-double with 20 points and 14 rebounds. He had nine offensive boards.
Paul Engstrom turned in a double-double netting 10 and grabbing 12 boards.
Jalen Coates had 15 points, seven assists and five steals.
The Orediggers hit the road next week when they travel to the University of Great Falls and Montana State Northern.
