LA MARADA, Calif. – Montana Tech opened their midseason California road trip with an upset victory over No. 16 Biola Thursday night. The Orediggers needed all five sets but finished off the Eagles 20-25, 25-12, 19-25, 25-15, 15-8.
The Orediggers (12-7, 3-3) get their third straight victory and fifth win against a ranked opponent this season.
Biola (15-8) won the first and third set. The Eagles used an 8-1 run to finish off the Diggers in the first frame and notched 17 kills in the third.
However, the Orediggers sharp play in the second and final set producing no errors sealed the victory. Tech outscored Biola 65-35 in the three sets won in the match and dominated the kills 36-21.
The Orediggers hit .262 as a team committing just 18 hitting errors in the five set match.

Nicole Peacock had 12 kills each. Middle hitter
Bailie Cortner also hit double-digit kills adding 10. Both Peacock and Cortner hit over .350.
The Orediggers showed toughness at the net posting 10 team blocks.
Katie Wiley was in on six blocks and also had nine kills.
Makenzie Bauck had 46 assists and two aces.
Sabrina Hopcroft had 16 digs and Peacock added 10.
Brook Watts was the only Eagle to hit double-digit kills with 12.
The Orediggers continue their four match series in California tomorrow. Hope Internationals hosts Montana Tech tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
