BUTTE, Mont. – In the first national tournament appearance in 28 years, Montana Tech came to play. The No. 24 Orediggers knocked off Indiana University South Bend in three sets 25-12, 25-16, 25-22.
The Orediggers (23-9) crushed the ball at the netting notching 18 kills in the first set and 48 in the match while hitting .430. The Titans (18-23) had 28 kills on the night hitting .114.
It was the highest hitting percentage of the season for Montana Tech.
Gena McMillan led the Orediggers with 14 kills on 20 swings and just one error. She hit .650 in the match.
Bailie Cortner had 12 kills and just one error hitting .733. She also had four blocks.
Jordan Danz and
Katie Wiley combined for 15 kills.
Sabrina Hopcroft had 10 digs.
Makenzie Bauck had 44 assists.
Sierra Conklin led the Titans with nine kills.
Montana Tech travels to the NAIA National Championship Final Site after the holiday. Pool play in Sioux City, Iowa starts November 29
th.
