SIOUX CITY, Iowa – The Orediggers faced tough competition on day two of pool play at the NAIA Volleyball National Tournament in No. 6 Eastern Oregon. The Mountaineers swept the Diggers 25-21, 25-22, 25-13.
Montana Tech (24-10) drops their first match at the NAIA Volleyball National Tournament and is now 1-1 in pool play.
Eastern Oregon (30-2) extended their match win streak to 11 and 29th victory in the last 30 tries. The Mountaineers are 2-0 in pool play.
Unlike yesterday, Tech had difficulty blocking at the net with just five blocks and six blocking errors.
The Orediggers could not find their rhythm at the net and in their passing. While the Mountaineers had just 12 hitting errors to 18 by Tech. The Orediggers also committed seven service errors.
Makayla Lindburg and Amanda Miller had 24 combined kills for Eastern Oregon. The Mountaineers hit 0.280 as a team and compiled 45 total kills.
Gena McMillan had 11 kills for the Orediggers hitting 0.333 in the match.
Jordan Danz had eight kills and
Bailie Cortner added seven. Cortner hit 0.316 in the match.
Montana Tech plays Coastal Georgia tomorrow at 2 p.m. in the final match of pool play.
