Box Score BUTTE, Mont. – Montana Tech opened the Frontier Conference season with a 3-1 victory over the University of Providence 25-23, 20-25, 25-12, 25-20.
The Orediggers (9-6, 1-0) struggled at the end of the second set, but rebounded back dominating the third and fourth frames. Tech finished with a team hitting percentage of .207 and outhit the Argos 57-44. The Orediggers registered 28 blocks to 18.
Masha Korol led the hitting with 18 kills and just two errors and a .340 hitting percentage.
Karina Mickelson had 15 kills and three errors finishing with a .255 hitting percentage. Mickelson added five blocks at the net.
Middle
Heather Thompson had 12 kills hitting .241 in the match. Thompson also had seven blocks.
Sabrina Hopcroft had a match-high 29 digs.
Genesis Keith had seven blocks.
Kelsey Shaver led the Argos with 18 kills.
Montana Tech travels to Havre to face Montana State Northern on Saturday.
