Box Score Des Moines, Iowa- The Montana Tech volleyball team split the first day of the Grand View Women's Volleyball Tournament on Friday falling to No. 15 Bellevue and defeating (RV) St. Francis.
The Orediggers dropped the opening match to the Bruins in straight sets, 28-26, 27-25, 25-18.Â
Montana Tech hit for a .190 clip against the Bruins who tallied a .250 hitting percentage on their way to 51 kills. The Orediggers were led by
Maureen Jessop and
Karina Mickelson who had double-digit kills. Jessop had 12 kills and Mickelson finished with 10 for Montana Tech.
In the second match of the day, Montana Tech bounced back with a victory over St. Francis in four sets, 3-1. The Diggers earned the victory 25-23, 14-25, 25-19, 25-19.Â
Montana Tech outhit the Cougars .217 to .159 while both teams tallied 47 kills.
Karina Mickelson led the Diggers with a match-high 17 kills while
Maureen Jessop finished with 10 kills.
Kamaile Moody led Montana Tech with 25 assists while
Sabrina Hopcroft notched 26 digs.
Montana Tech gets back in action on Saturday when they take on No. 12 Grand View and Cardinal Stritch University.Â
