Rocky Upsets Tech 38-23

Box Score BUTTE, Mont. – Penalties and turnovers marred the final game of the season. Rocky Mountain upsets No. 23 Montana Tech 38-23.

The teams combined for 27 penalties and the Orediggers could not overcome five turnovers.

Montana Tech scored first when Jet Campbell ran the ball in from 1 yard out completing an 8 play 75 yard drive in the first quarter.

The Bears hit a 38-yard field goal on their next possession after a Campbell interception.

Tech answered right back with a field goal of their own when Cody Gagnon hit a 22-yard kick.

Then Rocky rattled off 35 straight points over the next two quarters.

The Orediggers made a bid for a comeback at the end of the third quarter. Campbell completed a 57-yard strike to Alec Wooley-Steele bring the score to 38-17. Campbell exited the game at the beginning of the next Tech drive.

Campbell finished the game completing 8 of 24 for 202 yards.

Redshirt sophomore Kaleb Winterburn finished the game with a touchdown pass to Kiley Caprara for the final 38-23.

Blake Counts finished the game with 60 yards on 12 attempts.

Trevor Hoffman broke the 1,000 yard mark for receiving yards. Hoffman caught 4 passes for 98 yards.

Wooley-Steele had 2 catches for 68 yards and the score.

Carter Myers led the Tech defense with 15 total tackles, including 7 solo stops. The senior from Cody, Wyoming had 4 tackles for a loss and 1 sack.

Linebacker Jacob Clarke had 13 tackles and defensive back Tucker Rauthe added 12. Rauthe also grabbed a loose ball after Logan Kolodejchuk forced a fumble in the fourth quarter. Kolodejchuk finished with 10 tackles.

Devonte Woods led the Bears with 9 tackles and an interception. Adam Ames forced 2 fumbles.

Drew Korf completed 13 of 27 for 108 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Montana Tech finishes the season 6-4.
